LMC has the following statement:
- We advocate the use of DATIX to report when something has adversely impacted on patient care. The Welsh Government guidance for duty of candour (DoC) states that, whilst the use of Datix itself is not mandatory, it’s use when required is designed to comply with the DoC. By not using it in a DoC circumstance, one is exposed to the risks associated with not making the appropriate notification and escalation.
- We recognise the concerns highlighted by GPs regarding the functionality of DATIX - the lack of acknowledgement, action and feedback following submission to DATIX is not acceptable.
- We have invited Medical Directors to the next DPLMC meeting to discuss its use.
